Good News, Bad News
Good news! The hammer is going to face the gavel.
Bad news: It will harder to make an issue of supposedly law and order Reichert dependence upon DeLay's tainted fund raising. Expect to see the campaign fund converted to a defense fund and DeLay to mount the most expensive legal defense ever.

Too Bad Cindy Didn't Follow My Advice
I knew she would be arrested by the fascist military war criminal regime known as Bush. I just wish the Gold Star Mother had been carrying an apple pie with her when Bush's jackboot stomped on her. No headline could have resisted the lede of Bush arresting motherhood and apple pie.

Priorities
The first meeting Bush will hold after millions of people displaced in Texas, his supposed home state? He will meet with the Energy Department to hear the status of oil refineries.

No Tough Questions There
Andrea Mitchell's load of tripe mistakenly titled Talking Back... devotes 11 pages to Whitewater and 1 page to WMD in Iraq. This Republican hack is supposedly not afraid of asking tough questions. You have blood on your hands, Mrs. Greenspan.

Ha Ha Ha
I hadn't noticed it but Google is putting an ad on their results for the search to Miserable Failure that explains to people what Google bombing is.

Idiot Democratic Senate Leadership
Once again, the rollover Democrats give Bush a free pass. This time they confirm longtime rightwing ideologue short time judge as Supreme Court Chief Justice. They pledge to fight the next ideologue that Bush appoints. Idiots. That next right wing ideologue will be Abu Gonzalez which the Republicans will create as a wedge issue for Hispanics.

I wonder how many black people killed by Bush in New Orleans were originally thrilled by his appointments to the Secretary of State Office?

Oopsie
Loading the family into the SUV doesn't always work for evacuations either.
Some didn't have cars. Some had cars but couldn't find gas. Some found gas but burned it all up while sitting for 12 hours or more on jammed Interstate 45, the primary evacuation route north from Houston and Galveston.

If Bush had been a supermodel he would have been "blown" his career.

From the Kitten Killer's Mouth
Atrios links to the Washington Post article about the suspicious timing of Sen. Frist dumping his stock before a bad earnings report. Let's see what the Senator has to say about profiting from insider knowledge. From his site at frist.senate.gov:
I am equally troubled that someone would sell a book, trading on their former service as a government insider with access to our nation’s most valuable intelligence, in order to profit...

NY Times to Lay Off 500
I guess it is too much to hope David Brooks is one of the 500.

It Wasn't Thirty Or So
Information Week pulls a number out of nowhere.
Actually, googlebombing Bush is nothing new. The most recent embarrassment for Google? Type "failure" into the Google search field.
...
In late 2003, for instance, 30 or so sites with the phrase "miserable failure" linked to the same bio page

Embarassment? Embarassment? Like playing a guitar while thousands of American citizens died of thirst, that kind of embarassment? Google shouldn't be embarassed; they look damn prescient.

They say odd results
I think they are cogent results. Google got complaints because when people thought about Katrina they searched failure and got the Miserable Failure's home page. By the way, these guys have it wrong. There are not just a few hundred links to the Master of Disaster.

Happy Talk Like A Pirate Day
However, I don't really want to sound like Bush, Cheney or Rove.

Nuance in the Peeance, Freeance Age
I understand when a bomb delivered in Baghdad by a car from 50 feet away that it is terrorism.
But when a bomb is delivered in Baghdad by a cruise missile from miles away it is not terrorism but is part of Shock and Awe. From CBS News, Jan 24,2003, thousands of lives and billions of dollars ago:
"There will not be a safe place in Baghdad," said one Pentagon official who has been briefed on the plan.
The remark may have been more prophetic than intended.

Okay
From the Guardian:
Rice placed terrorism at the head of her list. Appealing for adoption of a comprehensive convention on terrorism, she said there could be no definition of terrorism that excludes from condemnation any group that harms innocent civilians.

Okay, Imelda Rice, I agree. You and your husband are terrorists

Four Out of Seven Airlines Agree
It is better to go bankrupt under the old law. They have the added bonus that they can steal their employees pension accounts blind. Airline "executives" have always been so good about paying themselves. They have been good about paying the oil companies' price gouging fuel costs but now they want to stiff the hard working Americans that gave them decades of loyal service.

The Republican Flip-Flop
Cutting off water to white woman in persistent vegetative state: Bad

Cutting off water to poor black people in New Orleans: Good

Or, perhaps, it isn't a flip-flop after all if you focus on the black and white part.

From Cookie at Skippy
what we are hoping we hear tomorrow from George Bush...

Take That, Mary Matalin
Republican Senators are afraid of the truth. Explain that to your Louisiana in-laws, Republican tool.

Moving The Goalposts
Keeping American troops in Iraq to prevent civil war is no longer operative. What will be the new Bushco reason? American troops' homes have been destroyed because flood protection plans in America have been gutted to fund the war in Iraq so the troops have no reason to come back?

A Generous Offer - Part II
There are many methodologies one can use to determine the best timetable for bringing America's troops back home from Iraq. We can consult astrologists. While extremely popular it might be hard to defend.

We could consult primary election calendars. For example, we could bring New Orlean's National Guard home before their city or state primary. Of course, this would look political so we don't do that.

I will happily include, at no extra charge, in my generous offer to get America out of Bush's quagmire for $1 billion an opinion poll of American troops to find out when they would like to come back home. My American withdrawal timetable from Iraq will follow their wishes. I cannot think of a better way to support our troops than to get them home when they ask especially because it was lies that sent them there in the first place.

A Generous Offer
For only one billion, ($1,000,000,000) I will offer to broker a deal between the US and Iraq. Considering that the US is spending nearly $2 billion a week I think this is a fair fee for brokering a deal and it is less money than Cheney's Halliburton can't account for.

Americans want out of Iraq. Iraqis want America out of Iraq. I believe I can find some middle ground such as, for example, offering to get America out of Iraq.

All sides will agree the only thing lacking is a timetable and I will create one. A timetable is all that is needed. How do I know? Simple. It is the only thing Bush is refusing to do. Therefore, logic dictates, it is the best thing to do.

It is as simple as that
People I respect have suggested resignation and a recall election for driving incompetent nincompoop George Bush out of office. Resignation presupposes an honorable character and recall presupposes a Constitutional Amendmendent in the next few years. Impeachment is the only course we have to remove the bumbling idiot. The downside is, of course, it leaves Darth Cheney in charge. The Impeach Bush Coaltion explains why this is a necessary evil.

Does Sen. Obama Read This Blog?
Sen. Obama said
...the worst-case scenario appeared to assume that every American has the capacity to load up their family in an SUV, fill it up with $100 worth of gasoline...

A few days earlier I posted:
Piling the family into the SUV and putting three tanks of gas on a credit card wasn't an option for them.

He probably doesn't read my blog; it's more likely a case of great minds thinking alike.

Surprise! Surprise! Surprise!
Firms with Bush ties snag Katrina deals. Reuters left out Rumsfeld's connections to Bechtel, the other sweepstakes winner in Bush's crooked lottery.

Bush's "Culture of Life" Strikes Again
Apparently Bush plans to use nukes against terrorists. How exactly is that supposed to work? America and its allies must show resolve in the war on terra? We have to destroy the metropolis in order to save it?

George Bush has been unable to handle disasters by air or by sea. Land is next for his trifecta... is it an earthquake?

Google Hires Vinton Cerf
As a result, the 62-year-old co-developer of the TCP/IP protocol that made it possible for computers to interact on the Internet said he was drawn to the work at search-engine giant Google Inc.

What Cerf had to say about Gore and Bush's lie that Gore said he invented the Internet.
Al Gore was the first political leader to recognize the importance of the Internet

P.S. Bad Geek/Internet/Nerd pun of the day:
Is it surfing the Internet or Cerfing the Internet?

Shameless Pandering
Those with DailyKos accounts, please recommend this post Top 10 Reasons Bush Strummed A Guitar While New Orleans Needed His Help

September The Eleventh
It is September 11th. It must be time for Bush to politicize disaster.
President Remembers 9/11 Heroes at Medal of Valor Award Ceremony
Today he is defending our freedom as a reservist with the 3rd Battalion 25th Marine Regiment in Iraq. (Applause.)
Is it time yet to question Bush's abilities to handle terrorist attacks or other disasters yet?

Presidential Reflexes
Contrary to First-Draft's premise, I think the second draft of this item is better.

Every four years, America chooses a leader. This choice is based on the collective hunches, predilections and prejudices of millions of Americans who vote. While not perfect, judging from the results over the last 200 hundred years, it has been a damn good system. This system worked well until 2000 when George Bush filed a frivolous lawsuit. By all accounts, when all votes are counted, Al Gore won the election in 2000. Racist Rehnquist and four other anti-democracy Supreme Court judges decided the people didn't know best and stopped the counting in Florida while Bush was ahead (if they had stopped it a few hours earlier, Gore was ahead). When all votes were counted, Gore won Florida.

Except for Racist Rehnquist and the Supreme Court's interference in a democratic election the American system would have worked. For evidence, I offer the disaster in New Orleans. Of the two candidates, of which one won the popular vote and would have won the electoral vote if the Supreme Court hadn't indulged in unAmerican, anti-democratic, activist judicial activities, whom would you rather have in charge of the federal government? Whose Presidential reflexes were better?

Bush strummed a guitar while New Orleans needed his help.

Gore arranged for emergency evacuation at his own expense.

Americans' votes unfettered 5 years ago made the right decision. In the first few days after the disaster who was more Presidential? The guitar strummer or the policy dweeb?

Rot in hell, Rehnquist.

Bill Maher Goes Shrill
Via Blah3. Maher calls for recall of Bush. There is no such mechanism other than impeachment so I think this puts Bill firmly in the impeach column.

Yearggh!
Via skippy! (more reliable for news than CNN, of course, I knew that before Jon Stewart did) Feds say let 'em eat tax cuts

Like The Rest of Blogtopia, Only Sooner
It turns out I was the first in blogtopia (yes, Skippy invented that term!) to call Bush, the Master of Disaster. For the irony impaired, it was in a purely cynical, snarkish way referring to how Bush can turn anything into a disaster.

Sadly, I am also like the news, only sooner.

Strike While The Iron Is Hot
Democrats, now is your chance. My only gauge is the number of referrals from Snopes. People find me via Snopes because of a certain Googlebomb and it directs them to here. My conclusion is, based on the recent uptick in activity, more and more people are thinking "Miserable Failure"

WooHoo! Wikipedia Lists Me
Wikipedia tentatively credits me with the creation of the Miserable Failure Googlebomb. Snopes did long ago. Even the NY Times did. Twice. More importantly, Stranger from Blah3, who because of his tenacious promotion of the bomb, many thought started it, credited me. I had the idea, but if MediaWhoresOnline hadn't linked to me, you would have never heard of it.

President Gore
Shouldn't the American people overturn the ruling by the racist Rehnquist that installed Presidential election loser George Bush over 2000 Presidential victor Al Gore? For instance, while Bush was strumming the guitar...

Al Gore helped airlift some 270 Katrina evacuees...
at his own expense.

Mind Boggler For The New Millenium
If Rehnquist had retired 5 years ago, the winner of the 2000 elections would have been in the White House.

Ditto for Sandra Day O'Connor.

Aha!
Wondering why the Katrina response was so slow?

Republican "Leaders" - Useless And In The Way
Republican Partisn Attack Dog Ken Mehlman is pointing fingers in a shameless effort to tear us apart, said,
"While countless Americans are pulling together to lend a helping hand, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid are pointing fingers in a shameless effort to tear us apart."

Top 10 Reasons Bush Strummed A Guitar While New Orleans Needed His Help
10. Bush had already planned the photo-op and he needed to show he was resolute in the face of a hurricane.

9. Osama bin Forgotten hates Country Western music.

8. It makes the NASCAR dads forget Bush was a cheerleader.

7. It makes the Southerners forget Bush is from Connecticut.

6. The guitar playing makes suicide bombers keep their distance.

5. Bush wasn't strumming; Bush was trying to milk it.

4. Bush had time to kill while they loaded up Air Force One with food and water for his trip back to Crawford.

3. Bush needed to look busy. Cheney thinks idle hands are the devil's workshop.

2. No one could anticipate that the photo-op would backfire.

And now, for the number one reason Bush played a guitar while the people of New Orleans were dying:
1. Bush doesn't know how to fiddle.

I Wonder What The Outcome Will Be?
This is not from The Onion:
Bush launches inquiry and puts himself in charge of it

Can Clinton demand a do-over on the investigations of his private parts?

Former Asst.Secretary of Treasury Goes Shrill
Dr. Roberts says, "Bush and his neoconservatives are guilty of criminal negligence and must be prosecuted." That puts him in the impeachment column. After all, the article is titled "Impeach Bush Now."

Riggsveda Goes Shrill
Last seen saying, "God damn George Bush. God damn him to hell." I think this puts him the impeach Bush (and then some!) column.

Left I on the News Goes Shrill
As Eli says, Resign. Now. The Chimperor will never give up power willingly or do the honorable thing so I think this puts Eli in the pro-impeachment column.

James Wolcott Goes Shrill
He calls for impeachment. Yearghh! Just like I did.

From Wag The Dog
To Shag the Dog. Blah3 has the run down on the Bush photo-op to make it look like he is a decisive leader rather than Halliburton's ventriloqist dummy:
You are being lied to, and lives have been lost because of it.

Blaming the Victims In New Orleans
CNN reports this nugget from Michael "Mr. Unprepared" Brown. FEMA chief: Victims bear some responsibility

Over 100,000 people in New Orleans live under the poverty level according to the US Census Bureau. Piling the family into the SUV and putting three tanks of gas on a credit card wasn't an option for them.

Lucky Duckies
NTodd has a picture of The Shrill One from EschaCon.

I wish I could be there with you guys! EschaCon2 better not be over Labor Day weekend - it's a lousy time to get long distance tickets.

Compare and Contrast
That was then:
State records show Bush re-election concerns played part in FEMA aid
FEMA has been under scrutiny since the Sun-Sentinel first reported in October that the agency was awarding millions of dollars in disaster funds to residents of Miami-Dade County, even though the county did not experience hurricane conditions.
This is now:
5 days of no food, no water
New Orleans - United States National Guardsmen reached New Orleans Convention Centre on Friday with the first food and water for a small number of the 20 000 refugees...

I think Bush playing politics with federal disaster money is an impeachable offense.

Plese Pass The chapstick
What makes me seethe to no end beyond the needless death in New Orleans that Bush caused with his 5 week vacation is this: Bush and his buddies will profit handsomely from the death and destruction in New Oreleans.
