Happy New Year!
To impeachment. The only way to get our country back.

Oh! That Kind Of Sovereign Nation
Left I On The News wonders what kind of sovereign nation gets its orders from abroad.

So That's What It Stands For
I always wondered what the G. W. in G. W. Bush stood for.

Impeachment Is Winning
At my dailykos diary entry, impeachment is ahead in the polling. Go vote, please.

Attorney General Announces Investigation
Abu Gonzalez ordered an investigation in the case of George Bush's illegal wiretaps of American citizens. Does the Attorney General wish to investigate who gave Bush such bad legal advice?* No. He wants to find out who leaked to the press. Cue up wingnuts about why it is good to torture reporters to find their sources.

*Hint: Remember who Bush's White House Counsel was at the time.

Party Like It's 1984!
It seems the purpose of Bush's invasion of Iraq is eternal war.

Benedict Arnold of the Day Award
I heard Ted Koppel being interviewed on the radio (sorry no link). Instead of criticizing Bush for breaking the law he insisted that our public officials should debate if Bush needs to follow the law to protect us. Wrong, Ted. This sounds like the kind of royalist argument Benedict Arnold would make. This makes you the proud winner of the very first Benedict Arnold of the Day award!

Shoppers Feeling Bushed
Five years of Republican rule and Americans can't afford to spend a lot on Christmas anymore.

Merry Christmas!
Except to Mr. Falafel, of course.

Reichart Turns His Back On Decades Of Law Enforcement
Reichert shows he really is in the pocket of Bush, Cheney and DeLay outlaw Republicans.

Just In Time For Christmas
Dick Cheney, George Bush and the other criminal and corrupt Republicans close down medical aid for the poor and student loans for the quickly disappearing middle class. The cuts probably could have been funded by the tax money that Dick Cheney's company Halliburton can't account for.

Bush, Rice and the Terrarists
Bush is insisting he has the right to break the law to illegally access data for data mining. These reports are supposedly going to keep us safe from terrarists. Of course, only if the people getting the reports do something about them. Remember Rice's testimony about 9/11? Why bother to data mine if they will dismiss the results, as Rice did with the 9/11 attack warnings, as "It was historical information based on old reporting."?

This Blog - Like the News Only Sooner
Only sooner. The irreplaceable Cursor links to Democracy Now about impeachable offenses for the Torturer In Chief.

Style Points
When differentiating between George Bush the Lesser and George Bush the Not So Great many news organizations have resorted to the cumbersome dropping of a letter: President George W. Bush vs President George H. W. Bush. In the interest of saving type space while following the convention of dropping a letter with the benefit of being more accurate, I suggest Resident George Bush vs President George Bush. That should end all confusion.

Grassroots Campaign To Impeach The Resident
Even though Reichert is a Tom DeLay Republican, I am thinking of getting folks in our district to write him asking to introduce a bill to impeach Bush. I know he won't but I think it is really shameful to have a former Sheriff put fealty to a bunch of corrupt Republican lawbreakers above the law.

Impeach Now!
Bush was for the rule of law before he was against it... nevermind, he never was for the rule of law.

He swore to uphold the Constitution and he obviously isn't. When do the impeachment hearings begin?

Yup
Gary at Blah3 sums up what is wrong with George Bush.

In Other News
Vote may have big impact on views of Iraq war. If Bush's poll numbers go up after this week's election in Iraq, Bush is prepared to order an election every two weeks.

A Day In Hell
One day, Richard Nixon and Saddam Hussein are sitting around in hell when George Bush arrives.

George, surprised to see who has to spend eternity with (he was hoping for Rush Limbaugh because Rush has the really good drugs) asked, "Why are you guys here?"

Nixon said, "Well, make no mistake about that, I lied to the American people."

Saddam said, "I had rape rooms and tortured Iraqis."

Bush looks at them puzzled. He asked, "Then why in hell am I here?"

Just A Suggestion
Considering how well a ragtag, unfunded by tax dollars insurgency is tying down the world's superpower we should rethink the Department of Defense budget. Let's replace $500 billion spending on war toys bought from Papa Bush's company with an AK-47 and 10,000 rounds of ammunition for every American household. I would even travel to Michigan or Arizona at my own expense if their borders needed protection from Arab invaders.

Parsing The Resident
Bush accepts responsibility
I'm responsible for the decision to go into Iraq -- and I'm also responsible for fixing what went wrong by reforming our intelligence capabilities.
But refuses to take blame for ignoring intelligence that didn't involve invading Iraq.

When Unauthorized Signs Are Outlawed
Only Outlaws will hold unauthorized signs!

Count me in.

Belated Happy Junta Day
Yesterday, was the fifth anniversary of 5 Republicans posing as justices ordering Florida to stop counting its votes so that Bush could be installed in the White House. It wasn't widely recognized as a bloodless coup at the time.

Bush's War On Ethics
Making a list
Checking it twice
Why, boys and girls, it seems Santa is especially nice to Republicans who are profiteering from Bush's invasion of Iraq by delivering defective merchandise (or delivering nothing at all!) to our troops while charging Americans who work for a living billions of dollars.

60 Years Later
WWII Vets must be turning in their graves. Germany is having to bitch slap Bush, Cheney, Rice and Gonzalez on human rights and torture.

Bush's Stratergy For Victory in Iraq
It has been nearly three years after invading Iraq for lies. Now that we have killed over 100,000 Iraqi civilians and they killed over 2,000 American soliders and we have spent $300 billion and are committed to who knows how much more Bush has announced he now has a strategy for victory. This victory apparently includes everything but victory.
...victory in Iraq will not come in the form of an enemy's surrender, or be signaled by a single particular event...

It appears that Bush's strategy is to talk the insurgents in Congress into submission.

Hmmm
Somehow, I don't think ABC will be reporting this controversy. 'Pooh' purists kick up a stink at Disney's modern rewrite

I Knew It
I always thought Dennis would make a fine president. Kucinich knows how to support the troops. Bring them home.

The Daily Show
I saw Jon Stewart's segment on O'Rielly and the War on Christmas. I have to hand it to Bill when he wished Jon Stewart a merry Christmas. O'Rielly is amazing. Somehow he managed to intone "Merry Christmas, Jon Stewart" to where it sounded like hate speech.

Steamed Rice
"The row was the worst possible conclusion to a meeting that both countries had hoped would usher in a friendlier period of relations following the appalling relationship between Gerhard Schröder, Mrs Merkel's predecessor, and President George W Bush."

Well, Gov. Dean, Then You And I Will Hang Together
Michael Reagan, taking after his father's ability to be out of touch:
Michael Reagan, son of the late President Ronald Reagan, is blasting Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean for declaring that the U.S. won't be able to win the war in Iraq, saying Dean ought to be "hung for treason."
I guess in that case, Reagan's son should call for my hanging as well. I wrote in October of 2003: Bush's Iraq War Has Failure Written All Over It. That was when Republicans were still lording Bush's aircraft carrier "Mission Accomplished" photo-op over Democrats.

The Solomon Amendment?
The Solomon Amendement doesn't mandate that we cut babies in half to find the real mother. The Solomon Amendment demands that impressionable young minds be subjected to recruiting propaganda to kill and die in Bush's fiasco.

Oops!
I forgot with all the excitement of the latest Al-Qaeda, Al-Qaida, let's call the whole thing off #3 being killed - Friday, Dec 2nd was the second anniversary of George Bush is #1 for Miserable Failure.

A lot has happened since then. Right wingers attacked Jimmy Carter. Right wingers attacked Michael Moore. Right wingers attacked Hillary Clinton. The New York Times published the scariest picture ever taken of me. Failure is the most popular search term leading to the White House. Google bombing has made its way into two college courses that I know of...know of. Bloggers have taken up Google bombing for worthy causes and stupid causes.

Bloggers' efforts made it into wikipedia, snopes and about. Some even thought it would be one of the top trends on the web for 2004.

Last, but not least, the excitement and traffic when Atrios first linked to me. I think my blog's traffic of the previous four months had tripled by the end of the day.

Surprise! Surprise! Surprise!
Frist's Votes Found to Favor HCA Interests
An analysis of Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist's voting record shows a pattern of supporting bills that benefit HCA Inc., the Nashville-based hospital company that's been the foundation of the Frist family's wealth.

Ding Dong The Witch Is Dead!
This list isn't all inclusive but I am noticing a pattern here:

Nov 19th - 9 US Soldiers Killed
Nov 20th - al-Zarqawi Dead? Al Qaeda Terrorist Perhaps Killed in Firefight

Nov 16th - 8 US Soldiers Killed
Nov 16th - IRAQ: US MILITARY ANNOUNCES CAPTURE OF KEY AL-QAEDA OFFICER

Nov 2nd - 7 US Soldiers Killed
Nov 3rd - Top Al Qaeda Leader Believed Captured

Sep 28th - 7 US Soldiers Killed
Sep 28th - Al-Qaida chief killed, says Pakistan

Update: Dec 4th
As grytpype, Patriot Daily (no relation), Michael, Jeffrey, Nick and Ron note - we have again killed #3 the day after losing 10 Marines.

For The History Impaired
Occupations can be ended on a timetable or by forcible eviction. Hint: You can reduce the bloodbath with a timetable.

Old Canards Die Hard
American troops in Iraq are not "preventing civil war" but are more likely causing it. Democracy cannot thrive while under foreign occupation no matter how many photo-ops are staged. The daily carnage in Iraq is a direct consequence of America's presence and not in spite of it. Our only hope of lessening the carnage of innocent Iraqi civilians and loyal American soldiers is to withdraw. The bloodbath that is occurring, and make no mistake, America has caused a bloodbath of epic proportions, may not stop for years after we withdraw but I guarantee it will not stop a second before we leave.

An Iraqi Gandhi, Rosa Parks or Martin Luther King, Jr. might emerge but they will have no chance as long as they can be perceived as a tool of the foreign occupiers.

Obama - We Hardly Knew Ye
My apologies. I was probably the first to post "Obama For President" so I was reticent to post this. However, like Black Commentator says, Obama's DLC position will hurt Democrats.

Obama isn't taking a leadership role in withdrawing from Iraq. He, like Hillary and Biden, are "stay the curse" Democrats. They are triangulating a spot between the "Kill Arabs Daily" crowd and the "Get Out of Iraq" crowd.

Any plan that calls for leaving American armed forces in occupation is not ending the occupation. Occupations are ended on a timetable or by forcible eviction and Obama has come out against a timetable.

Heh
At the time of this post, I am the number one hit on Google's Blog Search for Croney

(Updated: Oops! My bad. I misspelled crony - and fixed the original post so hopefully I will drop off the search for Croney... Thanks to milo for pointing it out. I usually spele betder than that.)

Free Speech To Cost $10,100
The Coast Guard, in a misguided attempt to prove it is tough on terrorism, is fining a 54 year old Quaker for terrorism. The Coast Guard, in an attempt to recreate a Kafka novel, targeted this peace protestor who was eating lunch on his boat.

You're safe for now, NTodd. It appears they are starting with Quakers on the Left Coast.
