Bad News, America
Growing up as a child of a WWII veteran, I, like most Americans, couldn't understand Germans' willingness to let such an obviously crazy person lead them (and I am third generation German on my mom's side; on my dad's side - he knew several of the windtalkers personally). I had an epiphany today. What Americans didn't factor into their thinking was an irrational fear and hatred of Jews (besides religous "differences", German Protestants blamed Jews for their loss in WWI) and the German 9/11 - the Reichstag Fire led to the infamous mass madness of the 20th Century: The Third Reich.

Today, Americans have their fear of Muslims and Arabs (not necessarily one and the same, btw) and their Reichstag Fire in which all inhumanities to Arabs and Muslims are excused. It appears as logical and warranted to Americans today as the Germans' treatment of the Jews appeared to them in 1938.

The problem Americans face is simple. A crazy person has been designated our leader. Our task of recognizing him as crazy is umpopular because many Americans love him because he unflinchingly kills brown people who worship differently and own oil. Ironically, many of Bush's supporters identify themselves as heavily religious. I, myself, would not sell my soul so cheaply.

Republicans Are Mean And Evil
Republicans are mean and evil. Strong words but true. Evil, as an epithet, is usually reserved for wanton acts of destruction that bear no benefit for the destroyer. Let's take a tale of two bankruptcies. A family who has had catastrophic illness or lost a job due to Bush's reckless economic policies that enrich his family and Cheney cannot have their debts wiped clean thanks to Bush's brilliant "Leave No Family Solvent" Bankruptcy Bill.

Let's look at United Airlines who is manipulating the bankruptcy court to get out of paying its retirees billions of dollars and passing the bill to American taxpayers which are people who have to work for a living. Rich people who get tax free dividends and tax free inheritance gifts are not going to pay a dime to get UAL or other companies that will follow suit and use bankruptcy law to get out of their legal obligations to their former employees.

Republicans have been pissing on the rule of law ever since Bush stole office. He is evil and what they are doing to America and the world is evil. They have made a Faustian bargain with Bush and Cheney and are gleefully driving America to destroy the rule of law. They have gone rabid with power and are willing to do anything to consolidate and expand it.

Republicans have destroyed America's justice system where everyone was guaranteed a day in court. Republicans have made American military power synonymous with torture. Republicans are busy destroying working Americans standard of living in the name of global dominion.

They are evil.

NY Times Concludes Self Investigation
An internal committee at The New York Times has recommended steps to increase readers' confidence in the newspaper.

Apparently, the plans to regain that which they spent so cheaply don't include giving Judith Miller the Jayson Blair treatment (ditto for her editors.) The Bush family's corporation to milk taxpayers, aka The Carlyle Group, will retain a seat on the NY Time's board. A seat that was awarded in 2001.

Republicans Say Felons Stole Election
It is true that aWol probably is a felon and he did steal two elections but the party of Tom DeLay isn't worrried about that felon or election. The friends of corrupt Tom DeLay are working to overturn the people's will in Washington state. "The evidence will show that 946 felons stole this election," Foreman said. Typical Republicans - they think felons would vote for the Attorney General for Governor over a laissez-faire Republican.
(Edit - I hadn't made it clear the election was for Governor and I hadn't made it clear that the press is running with the theme that Republicans have provided them - felons who voted illegally would vote for the state's #1 prosecutor. Thanks for the link, skippy!)
